Itinerary

Morning: Depart Arusha and Enter Arusha National Park

We’ll pick you up from your Arusha hotel around 7:30 AM and begin our drive toward Arusha National Park. As we leave the city behind, the scenery shifts to green hills, coffee farms, and small Maasai villages. Upon arrival at the park’s gate, your guide will handle entry formalities and brief you on the day ahead.

Mid-Morning: Game Drive and Wildlife Encounters

We begin our adventure with a game drive across the grassy plains, where you’ll likely encounter herds of giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, and troops of playful baboons. While the park lacks large predators like lions, it makes up for it with close-up views of lesser-known but equally fascinating animals. As we drive through the acacia woodlands and open savannahs, your guide will point out interesting behaviors and facts about the park’s inhabitants.

Late Morning: Forest Walk and Primate Discovery

After the game drive, we shift gears and explore the montane rainforest on foot. This peaceful walk allows you to connect with nature as you search for tree-dwelling primates like blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and the elusive colobus monkey. The forest is also home to a variety of medicinal plants, flowers, and butterflies your guide will share insights along the trail.

Midday: Picnic Lunch with a View

We’ll stop at one of the park’s picturesque picnic sites for a relaxing picnic lunch surrounded by nature. On clear days, you can enjoy views of Ngurdoto Crater or even spot wildlife grazing nearby. Take a break, enjoy your meal, and soak in the tranquil atmosphere before continuing your tour.

Afternoon: Visit to the Momella Lakes and Birdwatching

After lunch, we visit the colorful Momella Lakes, each with its own mineral composition and shade. These alkaline lakes are a haven for birds, particularly flamingos that paint the water’s edge in pink. Birdwatchers will love the variety of species that include African fish eagles, spur-winged geese, and kingfishers.

If you’re up for more adventure, you may opt for a peaceful canoeing safari (additional fee) on one of the lakes a unique way to experience the park’s aquatic life and enjoy a different perspective.

Late Afternoon: Mount Meru Views and Return to Arusha

As the day draws to a close, we’ll stop at a scenic viewpoint for breathtaking vistas of Mount Meru. With its dramatic peak rising above the surrounding landscapes, it provides a picture-perfect finale to your safari. After capturing your last memories, we’ll head back to Arusha, dropping you off at your hotel around 4:30 PM.
